Education in its broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character, or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another through institutions. Teachers in such institutions direct the education of students and might draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. This process is sometimes called schooling when referring to the education of youth. Teachers in specialized professions such as astrophysics, law, or zoology may teach only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning. There is also education in fields for those who want specific vocational skills, such as those required to be a pilot. In addition there is an array of education possible at the informal level, e.g., at museums and libraries, with the Internet, and in life experience. The right to education has been described as a basic human right: since 1952, Article 2 of the first Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights obliges all signatory parties to guarantee the right to education. At world level, the United Nations' International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 guarantees this right under its Article 13. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How has formal education been influenced by national development? Q. Our education system has grown and developed in a reflection of the changes in our society in a symbiotic relationship in which one influences the other. Considering such issues as gender, culture, curriculum, testing, and philosophy, how has formal education been influenced by national development? How have changes in society influenced changes in the way in which students are educated, as well as philosophies about education? I'm interested in getting an outsider's take on this question. Every time there is an OECD survey, Spain, the 7th or 8th largest economy in the world always comes really low down in the ranking. In attainment in reading, science and mathematics. We are constantly down in the 20's ranks near Greece, Portugal and Italy. Every new government seems to want to change the education policy of the previous one and in addition regional politicians openly defy national government policy if they happen to be of another political party. We have the money to have a much better education system, so why don't we? Asked by sunshineon69 - Thu Nov 27 09:12:32 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. Honestly? Voting another Party on the next elections. But even so I think it's not possible to improve it rapidly. In fact, Spanish politics are rubbish! (whatever Party!). I've graduated on the University recently but I don't think I'm trained at all. I think that the knowledge that the University teaches is not enough. The case of the elementary school and High School is even worse! It's sad! I'm not particularly proud of that, what a pity! Answered by Salva - Tue Dec 2 17:20:42 2008 What college education is required to become a veterinary assistant?
Q. I have been doing a lot of research on the topic but so far I have been receiving different answers. Does anyone know what, if any, college education you need? Asked by baby b - Sun Nov 16 00:19:00 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. No. You do not have to go to college to be a veterinary assistant. The veterinary assistant schools that are out there don't teach anything practical. They are usually on-line programs and don't teach anything hands on. Veterinarians want hands-on experience in their assistants, not someone who took on-line classes to learn about the different breeds of dogs. Veterinary assistants are mostly responsible for feeding dogs and cats, cleaning cages, and doing other cleaning activities around the clinic like mopping, sweeping, dusting etc. You don't need an education for that. Some clinics will allow their assistants to learn on the job how to do more advanced things like drawing blood, placing IV catheters, cleaning ears, giving… [cont.] Answered by altaira_3 - Sun Nov 16 10:33:35 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "education" Special education setting: the inclusion classroom
